The Smart150-HD is a RF Power Amplifier, suitable for FM broadcast applications. It is broadband "no tune", that means the RF power level keep same independently of tuned frequency in the FM exciter. A powerful RF low pass filter was included in the Smart Series, it is an important stage in a RF amplifier. This filter cut off all frequencies above 110MHz. The attenuation of 2nd harmonic is better than 85dBs (if we can say that there is an attenuation... because if the 2nd harmonic is not found!). The Smart150 has 150W RF output power with 3-6W RF input. You can connect the EX05 MiniStation in this amplifier and you'll get 150W continuous RF power level on the output. Also, the version Smart150-LD (note: LD means "Low driver" and HD means "High-driver" inputs) you can connect an exciter of 300mW, this version has a RF driver built-in. The power output is adjustable from 5W, you can choose what power you need, only adjusting the trimpot located on the front panel. A thrue RMS wattmeter was included in this version. Level of Forwarded power and Reverse power are measured in real-time through the LCD panel of the Smart150-HD. There is a mechanical cavity measuring all levels of RF power. The Smart Series has as power supply a "toroidal transformer" and a Step-Down (BUK REGULATOR) for maximum efficiency. The total efficiency of this power supply is better than 85%. In addition, this kind of power supply is strongest than other switched mode systems. Gas discharger and a bank of varistors make the mains protection of the Smart150-HD. The equipment is totally protected against fails: when you start the Smart150-HD the RF power goes increasing softly, after approximately 1 minute the total power is delivered to the load (antenna). If the equipment find a high level of VSWR the equipment will work in "FOLDBACK" operation and a message will shown on the LCD, saying there is a problem with your antenna. High levels of current and voltage are detected and the Smart150-HD will protect itself, not damaging the final RF stage (Mosfet transistor, BLF177 in the Smart150-HD). If the external temperature is more than 55ºC, the equipment will reduce the power until the normal temperature on heatsink is stablished. The Smart150-HD is a reliable equipment, never stoping to transmit, although in extreme conditions. Know more about Smart150-HD in the following pages!
